The Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force met on May 26, 2011, at Oh Bryans in Hamilton .  Both meetings were combined due to officer elections.

Members present:

Kier Vickery        Kim Lolley           Dotty Lyons         Jenny Gonzalez

Bobby Blaylock   Dalena Mathis     Darryl Seay

Due to the treasurer being unable to attend, co-chair Dotty Lyons reported the treasury balance as of 4/30/11 to be $9483.21.  She also reported that the treasurer has mailed in a total of $6787.80 to Safeplace for Walk a Mile for a Child.  The group decided to contribute an additional $2500 to WAM from the DVTF account, as this along with additional monies yet to be sent in should make the Marion County total over $10,000.

The group decided not to reschedule the WAM events that were not held due to the 4/27 tornado event.  Car show trophies purchased for the Winfield event will be used next year.  Darryl Seay reported that Hazel Rogers coordinated Hamilton Middle School ’s donation of $660 and their own Walk a Mile for a Child, which was featured on the front page of the newspaper.

Dotty reported that the Lion’s Club will be giving free eye exams and glasses at Liberty Hill Church in Hackleburg today and tomorrow.

Bobby Blaylock reported that the annual golf tournament is tentatively scheduled for October 7th.

The following officers were elected to serve until April 2012:  Treasurer: Teena Nix, Secretary: Judy Miller, and co-chairs Bobby Blaylock and Kier Vickery.

The group discussed a need for a volunteer/sign training this summer to train new members.

Darryl Seay agreed to schedule some Swamp John’s fundraisers.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting date will be June 23rd.  The normal dual meeting schedule will resume in June.

Hoping that each and everyone is having a safe summer.
